How We Started
Sidekicks Salsa was an act of kismet.
Started by us: BFFs Jessie Green & Danny Soza.
In the summer of 2014, we were asked to compete in a local chef “bring your best salsa” SMACKDOWN for Countryside Conservancy Farmers Market in Peninsula, Ohio and WE WON!! The competition was decided by consumer vote after tasting the entire line up from all the chefs present. So we were pretty psyched to win.
Customers at the market asked to buy some of our winning salsa. But we participated for fun and had nothing formal to sell. We thought about it after the market competition and considered forming a company. It seemed like a far-fetched idea at the time. But with a few months of research and energy—Sidekicks Salsa was born! We worked hard to replicate & perfect our winning salsa and the yummy result is our Mild. Since then, we have expanded to add our Medium, Verde, Hot and Extra Hot flavors.
What We’re Doing
We produce our salsas in Cleveland, Ohio. We take great care and pride in our methods, focusing on all natural ingredients and ripe produce. All of our salsas are heart healthy low in sodium, Non GMO, vegan, and gluten free with no fillers or gums/thickeners. We use pure citrus juice as our base and skip the vinegar. We buy all of our hot peppers from local farmers right down the street. We take the time to make a reduction with crisp juice and fresh vegetables, as a unique way to concentrate flavors. The result is a fresh, bright and delicious taste.
We put a lot of love into our salsas–and that’s a flavor you can count on.
